FOX's 'Head Cases' First on the Chopping Block

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The verdict is in - FOX's "Head Cases" is the 2005-06 season's first official casualty, just two weeks into its run.
Only 3.28 million viewers tuned into the show's second airing last night, a whopping 47.44% drop from its debut numbers last week (6.24 million on 9/14/05) according to Nielsen Media Research's fast national ratings. The picture wasn't any prettier among adults 18-49 as "Cases" suffered a 45.83% dip from its premiere (1.3 vs. 2.4 rating).
Overall, Wednesday's installment finished in fifth place in the 9:00/8:00c hour, beating only a repeat of "Just Legal" (1.53 million viewers, 0.6 adults 18-49 rating) on the WB.
New installments of "Nanny 911" are expected to fill the Wednesday, 9:00/8:00c slot for the next two weeks with the network's Major League Baseball coverage taking over on October 12. Then come November 2, a new season of "Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy" will take over the hour.
As for "Head Cases," only six episodes have been completed to date - meaning four installments will remain on the shelf.
Bill Chais was the creator of "Head Cases," a 20th Century Fox Television production, with Barry Josephson and Jeff Rake serving as the executive producers.
