Judy Tygard Is Named a Senior Producer for CBS News' "48 Hours Mystery"

JUDY TYGARD IS NAMED A SENIOR PRODUCER FOR CBS NEWS' "48 HOURS MYSTERY"

Judy Tygard has been named a senior producer for CBS News' 48 HOURS MYSTERY, it was announced today by Susan Zirinsky, executive producer of the broadcast. The appointment is effective immediately.

Most recently, Tygard was a producer for the CBS News Special "Dan Rather: A Reporter Remembers." Prior to that, Tygard was a producer for 48 HOURS (2002-05), and before leaving for a five-year stint as a producer at ABC News' "Primetime" and "20/20"(1997-2002), she was a senior producer (1993-97) and producer (1989-93) for 48 HOURS.

Tygard first joined CBS News in 1985 as a news writer for Bob Schieffer and Morton Dean at the CBS EVENING NEWS weekend editions. Early in her career, Tygard was a broadcast producer for "The Ten O'Clock News" at WNEW-TV, New York City (1984-86) and an assignment editor, copy editor, writer and desk assistant for the same broadcast (1980-84).

A three-time Emmy Award recipient at 48 HOURS, Tygard has also been recognized for her work by the American Bar Association with a Silver Gavel in 1993 and a CINE Golden Eagle Film and Video Award in 2002.

Tygard was born in Pittsburgh, Penn. She graduated magna cum laude from Emerson College in Boston in 1980 with a degree in journalism. Tygard lives in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. and is married to 60 MINUTES producer Mitch Weitzner. They have two children.

48 HOURS MYSTERY is broadcast Saturdays (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Susan Zirinsky is the executive producer.
