JOAN RIVERS TO GUEST STAR ON NIP/TUCK

Rivers to Play Herself on Season Finale

LOS ANGELES, August 18, 2004 Joan Rivers is set to guest star as herself on the second season finale of the critically acclaimed FX drama series Nip/Tuck. In this seasons final episode, Rivers meets with plastic surgeons Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) for an unusual cosmetic consultation. The episode will air on Tuesday, October 5 at 10:00 PM ET/PT on FX.

Rivers, who began her career as a comedienne, has openly discussed and joked about her own cosmetic surgery procedures. She first gained notoriety in 1965 when she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and later became that shows first sole guest host. Her own Late Night Starring Joan Rivers helped launch the Fox network in 1986 and, in 1989 she returned to television with The Joan Rivers Show, winning an Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host the following year.

Along with her daughter Melissa, Rivers joined E! Entertainment Television in 1996, and together they were key players in the networks coverage of such events as the Academy Awards, the Emmys and the Golden Globes, earning a reputation for their critiques on celebrity fashion. In June of this year, Joan and Melissa joined the TV Guide Channel to cover the entertainment worlds marquee red-carpet events.

Set in Miami, Nip/Tuck follows the lives of two plastic surgeons and business partners who run McNamara/Troy, a booming South Beach plastic surgery practice. Nip/Tuck was created and is executive produced by Ryan Murphy. Greer Shephard and Mike Robin serve as executive producers. The series is produced by The Shephard-Robin Company in association with Warner Bros. Television Productions Inc.

An FX original drama series, Nip/Tuck was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series for its first season the only show on basic cable to receive that honor in 2004. Series regular Joely Richardson was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Drama. Last month, Nip/Tuck received five Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for creator Ryan Murphy.

FX is the flagship general entertainment basic cable network from Fox. Launched in June of 1994, FX is carried in more than 85 million homes. The diverse schedule includes a growing roster of distinctive original series and movies, an established film library with box-office hits from 20th Century Fox and other major studios, an impressive roster of acquired hit series, and marquee sports such as NASCAR.
