TNN Takes 'Heat' from MTV, Adds 'Most Extreme'
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- TNN is set to take over the broadcast rights to "WWE Heat" from fellow Viacom-owned network MTV beginning Sunday, April 6. The news marks the program's third real estate change. MTV previously acquired the show from USA in September 2000.

TNN currently airs three WWE series: "WWE Raw" (Mondays, 9:00/8:00c), "WWE Velocity" (Saturdays, 10:00/9:00c) and "WWE Confidential" (Saturdays, 11:00/10:00c). "WWE Heat" will air Sundays at 7:00/6:00c, the same time the series ran on MTV.

The cable network also announced it has acquired 13 episodes of "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge," a Japanese game show that will be translated for U.S. audiences. The series features contestants engaged in wacky, dangerous stunts such as "people running up a hill as they dodge falling boulders and running across spinning logs floating on water" according to TNN's press release. The series, from RC Entertainment, will bow with back-to-back half-hour episodes on Saturday, April 19 at 9:00/8:00c as part of the network's male-friendly "Slammin' Saturday Night" lineup.

Finally, TNN has set Thursday, June 26 as the start date for its new animation block which includes new episodes of "Ren & Stimpy" as well as the debuts of "Gary The Rat" (featuring the voice of "Frasier's" Kelsey Grammer) and "Stripperella" (from "Spider-Man" creator Stan Lee and featuring the voice of Pamela Anderson).
